Wishing you a very Happy New Year

We are hoping that when the New Year comes, the snow and ice will GO!
The frost does make things look quite pretty though.

But this is not a pretty sight! The snow is packed solid and frozen to the ground, yesterday it rained on top of the ice and it was so bad that Brian couldn't get his car up the slope towards Whinneyknowe, he tried to go by Smallholmburn but a truck had got stuck there, so in the end he turned and went via Hightae. Last night it all froze again and we had a small fall of snow, this has given it a little bit more traction, but it is still very slippery.

We hope you all have a good Hogmanay (New Year's Eve) and that 2010 brings you everything you hope for.

Snowy day at Smallholm Farm

It snowed yesterday and today the sun came out, making everything look very festive.
Here is the view of the Annan Valley, last time you saw this view it was covered with water!

Steven sent through this photo of Muffin out in the snow.

It was lovely to have this snowy day on a Sunday, not so sure I am so happy about driving to work tomorrow though.

Christmas Wishes

Sending you digital Christmas wishes, you may have noticed that Brian has grown a few inches and put on a bit of weight, whereas I seem to have lost a few pounds - ha ha ha! The wonders of digital technology.

We hope you have a very happy Christmas and that the season brings everything you wish for.

Goodbye Jenny

We took Jenny to the vet first thing this morning and she was put to sleep. She was 17 and painfully thin, over the last month she had deteriorated considerably and had not eaten properly for a week. It was kinder to let her go now than have her carry on in such a state.

I would rather remember her when she was plump and sleek with her beautiful pink nose. Here she is sitting on my paperwork with a self-satisfied look on her face in April 2008.
